Effect of Implicit Voice Theories on Employee Constructive Voice and Defensive Silence: A Study in Education and Health Sector

Abstract Background and Purpose: Implicit voice theories are the beliefs that related to employee silence. This study aims examine implicit (don’t embarrass boss in public, negative career consequences of voice) as predictors defensive silence constructive voice. Methodology: is a cross-sectional an analytical study. The sample this consisted 494 participants working healthcare sector (n = 277) education 217) Turkey. We performed linear regression analyses test our hypotheses. Results: found power distance predicted while proactive personality belief “don’t public” These results confirm effect on Conclusions: Employees holding “negative voice” tend remain silent or prefer speak with their managers privately, which prevent sharing ideas group interactions organization. Therefore, must combat speaking up risky. In order change these positive way, they should make subordinates feel valuable behavior
